In regard to the legal requirements for checking proof of age, any caution is “due caution”.

It is a good idea to check I.D. on anyone not clearly over 30 years old.

When in doubt, always ask for additional identification.

If a customer claims to have left their I.D. at home, but looks like they could be 21, it’s better to serve them than run the risk of losing a customer.

If a driver’s license is not of uniform thickness, it is an indication that the license has been altered.
